Japan to Jerusalem: A Three Year Round the World Bicycle Odyssey
In 1993, at the age of 25, Marlin Lavanhar embarked from Japan on a
three year, 20,000 mile bicycle trip! He pedaled through some of the
world's highest mountain ranges including the Himalayas and the Hindu
Kush mountains, across parts of the Gobi desert, Tibet, India, Pakistan,
through the middle east from Syria to Egypt, and across Eastern Europe
and North America. Along the way, he met and lived with many
interesting people including nomadic peoples, matriarchal tribes, and
cave-dwelling ascetics. Fortunately for us, he recorded the journey in
photographs and has many fascinating tales to tell from this once in a
lifetime adventure!
Some of you may know Marlin as the Senior Minister at Tulsa's All Souls
Unitarian Church. Others may have heard him speak at other venues. All
who have heard him know him to be an entertaining and captivating
speaker. You won't want to miss this program.
Join the Tulsa Bicycle Club on Thursday evening, September 6th, at
Martin Regional Library, 26th and Garnett. Marlin's presentation will
begin at 8pm following the TBC regular monthly business meeting.
Everyone is welcome!
